March and vigil for Christian Ferguson, William Michael Rayford set for tomorrow

Looking for an Angel, Father Steve Robeson, Khatib Waheed, Rev. Freddie James Clark, Call to Oneness are presenting the 5th Annual Christian T. Ferguson Parade and vigil for Christian Ferguson, missing since June 11, 2003 tomorrow morning (Saturday, Jun. 7).

 

The march and vigil will also recognize William Michael Rayford, who was murdered Monday, June 2, 2008, just one day after the Call to Oneness march against violence on Sunday. Rayford was the first cousin of Christian Ferguson. His death marked the second consecutive homicide since the Call to Oneness march on Sunday, prompting organizers and others to respond

 

They will be gathering for the march at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 7, at Mark Twain Elementary School, 5316 Ruskin Ave.

 

The march begins at 12 p.m. from school to Thekla to Euclid where a will be held for William Michael Rayford. March will then proceed down Theodore south on Kingshighway to Bircher to 4545 Ruskin where a vigil will be held for Christian Ferguson.

 

Marchers will then proceed down Ruskin and return to the school for refreshments.

 

Wake for William Michael Rayford will be held from 4-7, Sunday, June 8 at Austin Lane Funeral Home.

 

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 9 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 4330 Shreve at Carter. For more information, call (314) 629-4841.
